Applications are being accepted for a full-time Animal Care Specialist in the Central Zoo. This position is responsible for the daily husbandry of species located in the Central Zoo including white-throated capuchin, white-faced saki, Hoffmann's two-toed sloth, and Canada lynx.
Responsibilities:
- The Animal Care Specialist performs work necessary to provide basic daily animal care for zoo animals, ensures appropriate animal wellbeing, and performs husbandry practices such as operant conditioning, enrichment strategy, and assisting with husbandry and enclosure furnishing design. Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in an animal-related field and one year of experience in a zoological setting are preferred.
- High school diploma or GED is required. Operant conditioning experience is preferred.
