Attractions Operator

Provide a welcoming environment while offering a safe recreational and educational experience at zoo attractions. Duties include operating the carousel, 4D theater, ticket scanning, event support, or helping at other zoo attractions.

Responsibilities include announcing safety rules, watching for safety issues, providing informational facts, assist guests getting into or onto attractions (including those in wheelchairs). Complete opening procedures/inspections, general cleaning of attractions and surrounding area. This position also requires other duties as assigned as they pertain to the attractions department including evening events.  The starting rate for this position is $15.00 per hour but may increase based on availability and experience.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma preferred, strong communication skills required, must be at least 16 years of age or older

Qualifications

Applicants must have flexible availability most weekends, holidays, and event evenings. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for long periods of time; an operator must be able to maneuver guests using wheelchairs on and off attractions and able to stand for several hours. People skills are required to considerately handle guest issues within guidelines of zoo policies. All successful candidates for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check and a drug test. As this is a safety-sensitive role, a negative drug test result is mandatory. The drug test screens for five substances, including marijuana.
