  • This is a non-union full-time salaried position, grade 08 with an expected hiring range of $67,000 to $73,700 annually.

  • This position contributes to the success of Brookfield Zoo Chicago (“BZC”) by supporting various aspects of capital campaign success through event management, donor relations, and communication contributing to BZC’s financial sustainability. 
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages campaign tracking and reporting, documentation of donor strategies, goals and updates, and progress reporting to supervisor and department leadership. 
  • Collaborates with Development Operations team to ensure entry and tracking in Raiser’s Edge is consistent with departmental requirements.
  • Responsible for all preparation and management of campaign events, including writing and production of invitations, planning, and execution of event logistics in collaboration with the Development events team, preparation of staffing documentation, acts as onsite lead during the event, and manages follow-up activities with attendees.   
  • Responsible for all preparation for Campaign Leadership Committee meetings including production of all presentation materials, collaboration with colleagues to gather content, writing and editing talking points for participants, and production of meeting minutes.
  • Handles all preparation and advanced materials required for donor briefings and solicitations; including production of meeting decks, staffing materials, updates, and post-event follow-up.
  • Collaborates with BZC Leadership to develop stewardship plans for campaign donors including project updates, campaign reports, special events invitations, and name recognition.
  • Supports planning and coordination of the community phase of capital campaign(s) to achieve goals of the community phase of the Next Century Plan.
  • Assists in future planning of the Next Century Plan fundraising efforts including assisting in preparation for a future feasibility study, RFPs for campaign consultant, developing a case for support, and collaboration on creation of collateral materials.
  • Assists in support and strategy around cultivation and stewardship of campaign prospects from key stakeholder groups, including major donors, annual fund donors, zoo/community members, Women’s Board and BZC Associates.

Experience Required
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Communication, Business, or another relevant field or eight years’ equivalent combination of training/experience with high school diploma or educational equivalent (e.g., GED.) required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in a non-profit organization or cultural institution.
  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of database or comparable systems.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize, plan, organize, and meet critical deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Creative, with the ability to think strategically and respond to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and sound, logical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information.
  • English fluency at a working professional proficiency.
  • Cultural competency; experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required at time of hire.
  • Illinois residents must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license or obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid out-of-state driver’s license is required for out-of-state residents.
DESIRABLE/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM software database experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint strongly preferred.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
  • Multilingual ability; Spanish fluency a plus.
