The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens embarks on a transformative ten-year journey, with Rezoovenation. We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Director of Marketing in a pivotal role to spearhead the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives. The focus is on enhancing our brand and community engagement strategy, presenting a unique opportunity to lead, inspire, and shape the future narrative of our organization. You will share the organization's passion and be prepared to elevate marketing efforts to new heights. The role requires more than a technical marketing expert but a multifaceted leader cultivating relationships, strategic planning, and genuine representation with over seven (7) years of experience in marketing and communications. Your portfolio reflects proficiency in brand strategy, design, and content creation is a prerequisite, complemented by strong analytical capabilities and expertise in market research. You have over five (5) years’ experience with marketing and long-range planning driving year-over-year growth in attendance and revenue. Through written reports and statistical analyses, the director keeps leadership informed, collaborating on budgets and expenditures to fuel our marketing and branding strategy managing a six-figure budget.  

Venturing beyond office walls, the director's influence extends to public and community outreach. in public relations, they craft strategies to build meaningful relationships with media, stakeholders, and the community. Serving as a spokesperson is not just a duty but an opportunity to represent our organization with unwavering confidence and professionalism. 

In the realm of integrated marketing, the director transforms into an artist, utilizing paid, earned, and owned media to create a masterpiece. The goal is not just visibility but the achievement of organizational milestones, transcending communication barriers. Collaborating seamlessly with the philanthropy team, they craft a narrative that elevates our presence beyond conventional boundaries, turning fundraising into an art form with new initiatives sprouting like seeds of change under their strategic guidance.

Do you have…
  • Bachelor’s degree; Marketing, Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications or related field and/or equivalent /commensurate experience? 
  • Seven (7) years of professional marketing and communications?
  • Five (5) years’ experience in marketing and long-range planning with a focus in brand strategy, design, and content creation?
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role in a similar role in a marketing/advertising agency and/or corporate division?
  • Three (3) experience managing a six-figure budget?
  • Robust supervisory and leadership skills to effectively manage and guide others?
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations with resilience and poise in challenging situations?

A Plus…

  • Master’s degree.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a Zoo and/or Aquarium.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to consistently remain on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity for standing, reaching, flexibility, and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, stoop, bend, lift, kneel, crawl, climb, jump, dig and prolonged standing/sitting.
  • Auditory ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, two-way radio, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Ability to work outdoors and indoors under all environmental conditions and temperatures.
  • Ability to transport and move items occasionally up to 20 pounds without difficulty for short distances.
  • Ability to ascend/ descend ladders, steps, and uneven terrain, while maintaining body equilibrium while performing various jobs.
  • Ability to access and navigate each department at the organization on foot or by motorized cart, including any construction sites, to facilitate tours, greet visitors, and escort media.
  • Visual and auditory acuity appropriate for safety and discern differences in documents.
  • Exceptional visual acuity is required, along with the ability to communicate, comprehend and decipher/hear information accurately, using a two-way radio.
