The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

- As our Director of PR & Integrated Marketing, you are responsible for executing strategies to create and uphold a positive public image for the zoo.
- Implement marketing strategies that cultivate our relationships with media, engage our target audience, and boost our brand awareness.
- As a Director of PR and Integrated Marketing, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people in San Antonio.
Here, you will make an impact by:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the San Antonio Zoo while developing a team of subject matter experts (SME); craft talking points, identify speaking engagements and media opportunities for this team of SMEs.
- Represent the zoo in public relations activities through writing and distributing press releases and media advisors to news organizations: create and maintain collaborative working relationships with new media outlets.
- Develop and execute strategies to create and uphold a positive public image.
- Set objectives for the PR/Social Media team and monitor performances
- Maximize brand presence on various channels (e.g., web, TV, and social media)
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with media and influential professionals.
- Ensure brand consistency
- Report on PR campaigns’ results
- Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and productive working relations with fellow employees.
- Partner with Human Resources to continuously train, develop, and promote all social media, public relations team through individual performance planning.
- Upholds all company policies as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures, Team Member Handbook, and Code of Business Conduct.
- Consistently exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside of the zoo, showing hospitality to all.
- Be fully committed to the mission of the San Antonio Zoo, create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward, and animals we protect.

Your Skills and Expertise
- To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:
- Strong storytelling skills to support the creative process; possess a solid sense of branding and aesthetics.
- Master communicator, including writing and public speaking.
- Knowledge of design & project management, organizational skills, and budgeting.
- Provides project management for organization-wide projects/initiatives as required, facilitating team efforts and helping to define project goals, timelines, resource requirements, and planning to cope with conflict or stressor points in the plans.

- Expertise of social media platforms and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead creative and technical teams with a spirit of collaboration.
- A minimum of five years of experience in leading public relations is required
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing required.
- Experience in social media, video, and photography knowledge is preferred
- Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Must be able to work in varying climate and weather conditions (rain, snow, hot, or cold)
