This position is responsible for coordinating all administrative functions for the Education Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome all on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel
- Answer department phones
- Provide program information to callers
- Register individuals and groups for programs
- Provide overall administrative support to the Education Department
- Perform clerical functions as requested
- Assist program coordinators with program rosters, badges, health forms and signage
- Oversee room and building set up for programs
- Assist department with building maintenance
- Diplomatically resolve customer service issues
- Use time and resources effectively to accomplish department goals
- Participate in annual Zoo events as needed
- Work weekends and evenings as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong writing, verbal, and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Skills to operate all basic office equipment
- Ability to work during the summer 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows and have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel
- Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain standards of insurability
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Two (2) or more years of similar or related experience. Prior experience working in a school environment preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or or move up to 25 pounds.
