Education Administrative Coordinator

This position is responsible for coordinating all administrative functions for the Education Department. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Welcome all on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel
  • Answer department phones 
  • Provide program information to callers
  • Register individuals and groups for programs
  • Provide overall administrative support to the Education Department
  • Perform clerical functions as requested
  • Assist program coordinators with program rosters, badges, health forms and signage
  • Oversee room and building set up for programs 
  • Assist department with building maintenance
  • Diplomatically resolve customer service issues
  • Use time and resources effectively to accomplish department goals
  • Participate in annual Zoo events as needed
  • Work weekends and evenings as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing, verbal, and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Skills to operate all basic office equipment
  • Ability to work during the summer 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows and have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel
  • Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain standards of insurability
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Two (2) or more years of similar or related experience. Prior experience working in a school environment preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
Physical Demands: 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to work irregular hours (holidays and weekends)
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold and inclement weather
