Position Summary 
  • This member of the ZooTampa Event Productions team plays a crucial role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of consumer events, overseeing Zoo-wide audio and visual needs, and managing the daily operations of costume character performers.

Essential Functions (including but not limited to): 
  • Assists the Event Productions team in the planning and execution of ZooTampa’s consumer events, including but not limited to Creatures of the Night, Christmas in the Wild, fundraising events, and other events assigned.
  • Communicate and act as a brand ambassador for ZooTampa when interacting and communicating with guests. 
  • Performs operational and logistical duties as required for the successful implementation of all events and performances, to include:
  • Assist with event set-up and breakdown. 
  • Coordinate the delivery and receipt of supplies and equipment to the Zoo. 
  • Assist in resolving any issues that arise during events, ensuring quick and accurate solutions. 
Assists with Zoo-wide audio/visual needs, to include: 
  • Provide on-site support during day-to-day operations and events, quickly resolving technical issues to minimize impact on the guest experience. 
  • Maintain functionality and inventory for all AV equipment, including microphones, projectors, screens, speakers, lighting, and video systems. 
  • Assists with the Zoo Mascot program, to include:
  • Mentor and oversee performers and hosts, providing feedback to team members to ensure high-quality and engaging experiences for ZooTampa guests.  
  • Assist with mascot team scheduling and communication, ensuring all shifts and events are properly staffed and aligned with ZooTampa’s operational needs. 
  • Ensure costumes are properly maintained, cleaned, and kept in excellent condition. 
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: 
  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Proficient in basic audio/visual skills preferred.
  • Experience in guest service or hospitality management preferred.
  • Experience in non-verbal performance preferred. 
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Must be able to think logically and solve problems with minimal guidance. 
  • Ability to work with multiple people on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and adapt well to other computer programs.
Other Requirements: 
  • Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and standards that ensure animal welfare.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida (i.e., heat, rain, or cold).
  • Ability to use radio, telephone, and computer to communicate and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Must be able to work seasonal events as needed, including nights and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, standing, walking, and driving.
  • Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.

Experience Required
