Your Job
- The Finance and Accounting Analyst is responsible for the accurate record keeping of all income and expenses, assisting in the monthly preparation of financial statements, accounts payables management, revenue recording, treasury services, reconciliations, and payroll services management.
Your Essential Responsibilities

- Ensure accounting activity is recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and TZMI policies and procedures.
- Perform accounting entries relating to the preparation of monthly financial statements including revenue and expense entries.
- Manage accounts payable process and maintain vendor files including credit applications, terms, correspondence, reconciles vendor statements, etc.
- This includes maintaining form W-9s and creating and filing form 1099s designated by the IRS. Administer and manage TZMI’s electronic accounts payable documentation system (Papersave).
- Administration of TZMI’s credit card (procurement card).
- Authorize users, manage and authorize credit limits, as well as monthly statement reconciliation and general ledger posting.
- Investigate and resolve vendor or purchasing agent concerns related to bill payments. Work with budget owners to ensure timely [payment of invoices. Prepare accounts payable checks, obtain signatures, and file documentation. Assist employees, vendors, clients or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Create spreadsheets and databases as needed to provide reports and analyze data; furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient and furnish external reports as necessary.
- Support the preparation and presentation of monthly financial statements, reforecasting, and annual budget processes for the zoo.
- Assist Vice President of Finance & Administration with external auditors providing necessary information, reconciliations, and schedules as requested.
- Manage payroll process. Review and audit employee time data, including recording of time off reporting on wages, hours, overtime and employee time off to be used in compiling payroll. Prepare and issue employee compensation via the zoo’s online payroll system. Maintain employee paid time off recording and reporting systems.
- Calculate, report, and remit monthly sales tax to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
- Facilitate and suggest process improvement on accounting and reporting internal controls.
- Record revenue from the point-of-sale system daily, along with other revenue on a daily or weekly basis.
- Preparation and filing of monthly sales tax.
- Responsible for fixed asset tracking, recording of depreciation expense, disposal and monthly reconciliation.
- Assist Vice President of Finance & Administration in special projects, as needed.
- Assume duties of the Vice President of Finance & Administration in their absence.
- Effectively communicate and demonstrate interpersonal skills with all levels of employees in a clear and professional manner.

- Know and follow zoo policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and assigned training sessions.

What We Expect
- Required Qualifications, Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from college or university; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be 18 years or older, possess a valid driver’s license, and be insurable on TZMI’s insurance carrier
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents; to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; to effectively present information to TZMI employees, top management, board of directors, and public groups
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, algebra, fractions, ratios, and decimals to practical situations as well as advanced mathematical concepts such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis; ability to use knowledge of such concepts to analyze business reports to make decisions and recommendations.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office 360, Blackbaud Systems, and related software products for performance of duties.
