This is professional work assisting in the purchasing process associated with the Animal Nutrition Center as well as providing exceptional customer service through engagement while creating friendly and positive interactions with all guests and co-workers.
CORE DUTIES:
- Assists in the purchasing process associated with Animal Nutrition: researches product/material specifications, research vendors, participate in creating new food contracts, sends Request for Quotes (RFQ's) to vendors on associated County contracts.
- Performs clerical activities such as submitting and filing of invoices.
- Assists with receiving materials to the nutrition center; operates forklift and pallet jack to move/organize materials throughout the warehouse.
- Maintains the accounting, purchasing, inventory and other food item records; monitors stock and usage levels; manages logs for temperature and tracking lot numbers.

- Maintains records for food safety protocols, rules, regulations, policies and procedures that are in accordance with AZA, USDA and OSHA standards.
- Maintains a database for tracking purchases; answers vendor inquiries and follows up on overdue payments.
- Prepares and researches the cost of capital equipment requests; provides recommendations for purchases, repairs and facility operations for the zoo’s animal nutrition facility.
- Performs other related tasks as requested.

Experience Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in the receipt, storage, and inventory of materials to include experience operating materials handling equipment are required.
