The IT Manager at John Ball Zoo guides seasonal IT staff and runs daily operations of the IT department. This position oversees the Zoo’s IT Help Desk, computer networks, and infrastructure while working to optimize the organization’s technology systems. They provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the IT Help Desk team, identifying and creating opportunities for growth and continued development in the department. This position’s pay range: $66,000 – $73,000

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN IT MANAGER AT JBZ
- The IT Manager analyzes current systems and assets for optimal performance, as well as planning for and maintaining IT infrastructure.
- In addition to managing and responding to IT Help Desk tickets, they purchase hardware, software, and services and complete monthly expense reports.
- They troubleshoot issues with computer networks and systems; install and configure network switches and firewalls; and maintain effective security measures.
- They also provide end-user training throughout John Ball Zoo on software and hardware.
- John Ball Zoo is a drug free facility under federal regulations.
Experience Required
- QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN IT MANAGER AT JBZ High school diploma or equivalent requires.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or 5 years of related work experience. Knowledge of IT ticket systems, credit card processing, and point of sale equipment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Cisco or Ubiquiti Networking, Microsoft SQL Server, VMWare, Google Workspace; or similar software packages.
- Affinity for the mission and values of John Ball Zoo Strong customer service and team focus Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills Demonstrated ability to prioritize and show flexibility with daily responsibilities with minimal guidance.
- Understanding of project management principles.
