The San Francisco Zoological Society (“Society”) is a non-profit institution that manages and raises funds for San Francisco Zoo and Gardens (“Zoo”). The Society’s mission, supra, is summarized as the 3 c’s: to connect our visitors with wildlife so that they care about nature and ultimately conserve it. The Society’s leadership team is comprised of a CEO & Executive Director and a professional team of Senior Managers. The Society endeavors to meet or exceed the standards of its industry peers, including those established by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (“AZA”). The Society has been continuously accredited by the AZA for more than 25 years.

SUMMARY:
  • Under the general direction of the Vice President of Information Technology, this position is the mid-level in the Information Technology Division.
  •   The incumbent will support and perform basic technical and operational functions related to IT projects, events, and network/workstation maintenance. 
  • The incumbent will initially work alongside with the VP of IT to learn all aspects of IT software, data management, e-mail support, and systems, including the Zoo’s ticketing system.
  •   Assignments in the beginning will be limited in scope and as experience accrues, the incumbent will perform work with increasing independence and responsibility.
  •   Those duties may include, but are not limited to,  providing general oversight of the Help Desk system, carrying out IT protocols & processes to problem solve, and providing user support to client divisions on an as-required basis.
  • Also will assist and support anticipated, zoo wide database and software selections.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Install, configure and maintain workstations, hardware equipment, software programs/applications, audio/video equipment, telecommunication devices such as radios & VOIP phones, network devices, servers, Wi-Fi, switches, firewalls, routers, access points, etc.;
  • Provide technical and operational support to client divisions; assist in trouble-shooting of desktops, laptops, printers and network-related problems; may coordinate with vendors for necessary repairs as directed;
  • Monitor, receive, and resolve Help Desk work order service requests; perform system or problem tracking analysis and recommend resolution; may assist in the development and production of an end-user documentation for processing;
  • Install, trouble shoot and support of the Zoo’s ticketing system;
  • Monitor, review and manage the radio system, cloud based e-mail filtering system, software applications/mergers, servers, switches, wireless devices, etc.; provide communication support between systems;
  • Assist in IT’s training activities and conduct research and recommend solutions to support IT functions;
  • Conduct data analysis, statistics, system backups and provide user support related to IT functions;
  • Manage infrastructure and fiber backbone; install and trouble-shoot Ethernet cables;
  • Provide support via phone and remote log-in clients;
  • Serve as the primary liaison between IT and client divisions, which may require work on weekends, holidays and as-needed basis.
  • Configure and maintain audio/visual equipment in public event spaces including mixers, amplifiers, microphones, projectors, cameras, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required
EDUCATION:
  • This position requires an Associate’s Degree (AA) in computer science or a related field of study from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience performing analysis, installation, and technical support in a network environment.
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification is preferred.

Salary Range $72,000-$75,000
