Monitors Life Support Systems and maintenance of associated Life Support Systems (LSS) Equipment in support of the Louisville Zoo aquatic animal exhibits
Monitors exhibit water treatment processes as well as maintaining equipment and making necessary changes or repairs as needed
UNDER CLOSE SUPERVISION
- Conducts daily rounds on all life support and water works systems
- Monitors LSS equipment and processes for normal operation and makes changes as needed
- Performs troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance as needed to keep LSS equipment in excellent working condition and appearance
- Maintains specialized treatment systems like ozone generation equipment & peripherals, UV sterilizers and R.O. (Reverse Osmosis) systems
- Maintains LSS system logs and records
- Interfaces with other departments to maintain the highest water quality standards
- Cleans different life support areas routinely
- Performs related work
Minimum Requirements
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Aquatic Science
- Biological Science
- Marine Biology
- Related field
- Two years of Aquarium or marine mammal life support system operating experience
Other Minimums:
- Must provide one's own source of transportation
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Must be on 24 hour call
- Must be vaccinated for hepatitis B, have provided evidence of immunity, or have signed a declination form within ten days of initial assignment
- Must pass an annual tuberculin test
- Must wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
