At Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, every animal’s story matters—and accurate records are a critical part of responsible wildlife care and conservation. We are seeking a detail-oriented Zoo Registrar who will serve as the steward of our animal population records, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and smooth collaboration with accredited zoological institutions and conservation partners.

  • This role sits at the intersection of animal care, conservation collaboration, and regulatory compliance.
  • The Zoo Registrar ensures that all animal records are accurate and up to date, coordinates permits and documentation, and helps facilitate animal transfers with accredited zoological institutions.
  • You’ll work closely with animal care staff while also serving as a point of contact for regulatory agencies and professional partners across the zoo community.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain accurate animal records and population data using ZIMS.
  • Help ensure all records, transactions, and permits meet AZA accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the administrative liaison with agencies such as USDA, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and other zoological institutions.
  • Coordinate the documentation and logistics involved in animal transfers between accredited institutions.
  • Manage permits, licenses, certificates, and regulatory inspections.
  • Organize and maintain digital and historical animal records.
  • Assist with policies, procedures, and documentation related to animal care compliance.
  • Help onboard staff on the use of animal record systems and processes.
  • Coordinate with vendors and visiting professionals when needed.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Biology, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3 years of AZA registrar experience preferred.
  • Ability to complete the AZA Registrar Course within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience with ZIMS or other animal population databases preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal teams and external partners.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Working at the Zoo
  • This role includes both office work and time moving throughout Zoo grounds. Candidates should be comfortable working in South Florida weather conditions and be able to lift up to 50 lbs, walk the Zoo grounds, and occasionally work evenings, weekends, holidays, or special events.
