GENERAL SUMMARY
- Performs essential accounting functions according to established procedures while providing support necessary to process the obligations of the organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Balances and posts revenues to the general ledger on a daily basis, and prepares timely deposits of earned and contributed revenue
- Responsible for cash handling operations
- Responsible for reviewing and reconciling credit card transactions
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepares monthly journal entries
- Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Prepares monthly state & local sales tax & parking tax returns
- Prepares bi-weekly payroll, process payroll reports and employee reimbursements
- Assists with compiling data for 1099 reporting and MBE/WBE/PCE dashboards
- Assist with budget process
- Assist with audit and tax return preparations
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- May assist in other Accounting Department activities, including but not limited to periodic miscellaneous reports, system enhancement and transitions, and annual audit
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in working across multiple technology platforms.
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting
- Ability to analyze problems and select proper corrective action
- Ability to efficiently multi-task
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality
- Ability to learn and adapt to varied work assignments
- Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers, zoo visitors and general public
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree or higher in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Specialization in Accounting preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work at computer for long periods of time
- Ability to work in open office environment
- Salary: $58k-65k/annually
