The Veterinary Clinical Fellow position provides professional development through exposure to a large and varied zoological collection in a group practice setting. This position reports to the Veterinary Clinical Operations Manager, Director of Veterinary Services, or other designated staff.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Conduct veterinary clinical management focusing on routine clinical procedures, medical case management, critical care case management, and regulatory functions in a variety of non-domestic and domestic species. Includes use of diagnostic imaging, including radiographs, ultrasound and computed tomography.
- Write complete and concise medical records.
- Formulate and execute diagnostic plan and develops a tier of therapeutic options.
- Perform basic endoscopic and surgical procedures.
- Mentor veterinary student externs.

JOB EXPERIENCE
- Zoological medicine training or equivalent with three years minimum post-graduate clinical experience working with greater than 50% zoological species required.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- A DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited institution or ECFVG certification required.
- California Veterinary License or ability to obtain one within 30 Days
- USDA category II Accreditation or become USDA Category II Accredited within 60 Days
- Current valid California Driver’s License in good standing
- Certification or Eligibility for certification in the American College of Zoological Medicine
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Strong working knowledge of general husbandry of common zoological species.
- Strong working knowledge of Veterinary management of common zoological species.
- Knowledge of literature pertaining to zoological species.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-faceted fast paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate at multiple levels within the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a diverse team as well as independently.
- Work effectively with Microsoft Office software, electronic medical record keeping systems (ZIMS), imaging systems, and cloud based sharing.

- Salary Range: $86,200 to $95,320
